Rapid Medical Evaluation

Delivering strong operational performance is a key focus for CEP America. With increasing patient volumes, higher patient acuities, emergency department closures, and staffing shortages, it is increasingly evident that breakthrough changes in flow and the parallel processing of patients are necessary for our emergency departments to continue to successfully provide services.

CEP America has developed and pioneered the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME)® program that has been successfully implemented across our hospital sites, regardless of ED volume, patient demographics, type of hospital, or any other ED differentiating factor. This program allows the medical provider to evaluate the patient and begin treatment as quickly as possible.

To ensure successful implementation of RME across our EDs, CEP America utilizes internal consultants to bring expertise to our sites; we leverage the power of our ED network to promote site visits and best practice sharing; and we drive home the successful implementation with data.

As a result, there is improved operational efficiency and higher patient satisfaction, while ambulance diversion time, time to provider (TTP), left without being seen (LWBS) rates, and ED overcrowding are decreased. RME enhances patient flow by allowing patients to be evaluated by the appropriate provider in an appropriate area. In fact, many ED patients never have to occupy a bed in the main ED. In effect, RME has virtually expanded our EDs with minimal physical improvements.
