Collaboration between hospitalists and emergency physicians can be challenging due to a conflict of interest that can arise based on the different priorities they must manage. However, the way in which these two departments work together can have significant consequences to patient care metrics throughout the hospital.
CEP America’s emergency physicians and hospitalists work towards improving operational efficiencies to ensure responsive and timely admissions from the ED to the inpatient department. Our Regional Director and local Medical Directors participate in monthly best practice sharing and engage in regularly scheduled meetings with each other to improve hospital throughput. This close working relationship between the inpatient department and the ED leadership has led to highly integrated throughput processes and significant quality of care improvements for our client hospitals.
