About Us :: Our PartnershipCEP America is the third largest provider of physician staffing and comprehensive management services for emergency departments in the nation. With over 60 emergency departments and 19 ambulatory practices, CEP America provides emergency and unscheduled care to almost 2.5 million patients annually. Founded in 1975 as California Emergency Physicians Medical Group (CEP), we initiated the process of a name change in 2006 to better represent our national identity as a democratic emergency physician group staffing hospitals in four states, with a business model available to contract in additional states. Our growth has been fueled by requests from physician groups, nurses and administrators in states outside California, who were already familiar with CEP’s outstanding ED staffing model, supported by proven programs and procedures.
CEP America Core ValuesLeaders in Emergency MedicineCEP America is a unique medical group that includes some of the finest leaders in emergency medicine. There are a large number of our physician Partners who have held leadership positions in our client hospitals and organized medicine. For example, numerous CEP America Partners have served as chief of the medical staff at their practice locations. Our Partners have also served as President of the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (CAL/ACEP), the Georgia Chapter of ACEP as well as National ACEP, and are active in EMS in the various counties we serve. CEP America Partners are dedicated to our mission to “exceed the expectations of our patients, partners, and customers in ambulatory and emergency care.” Democratic OwnershipCEP America is a democratic physician partnership where ownership of the Partnership and our subsidiaries is distributed equitably among the practicing physicians, none of whom owns more than 0.5% of the Partnership. There are no outside owners or investors, so all income from the practice after operational expenses, billing and malpractice costs, is fully returned to our physicians. This Partnership structure provides an inherent incentive to meet the expectations of our client hospitals and patients. The Partnership has no debt and all capital needs for business purposes are self-financed. Our practice management company is owned by the Partnership, which in turn is owned by all physician Partners. There are no physician employees in CEP America, as all physicians are Partners from the day they work their first clinical shift. Local Group AutonomyEach of our emergency medicine practices is unique, and the CEP America relationship is often transparent to the medical staff and hospital personnel. Our Partners establish a solid local presence within the community and retain the best characteristics of the most well-regarded single site emergency physician groups in the nation's premier hospitals, with one major difference. CEP America medical directors and clinical physicians can access a large network of management expertise and resources to support their efforts to deliver the best practices in emergency medicine.
