Jay Kaplan, MD, FACEP, Receives National ACEP Award; Joins California Emergency Physicians Medical Group.

(November 21, 2003, Oakland, Calif.)—Jay Kaplan, MD, FACEP, Director of Service Excellence with California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group, received the Outstanding Speaker of the Year Award at the American College of Emergency Physicians’ (ACEP) Scientific Assembly. The recipient is chosen for the award based on feedback from attendees at various national ACEP educational conferences throughout 2002-2003.

“I am both honored and humbled. What I love about presenting for ACEP is that it gives me the opportunity to connect with my colleagues and to teach, educate and learn. Speaking allows me to make a difference," said Dr. Kaplan. "I appreciate having the chance to get people to look at what they do a little bit differently and to think about the concept of change, which is always a challenge. My hope is that my message translates into creating better places for patients to come to for care and better working environments for physicians and ED staff."

Dr. Kaplan joined CEP in July as the Director of Service Excellence, which entails working with CEP-contracted Emergency Departments on customer service, operational initiatives, enhancing relations with physician and nursing staff, and patient satisfaction presentations. He also has a clinical practice in the Emergency Departments at Marin General Hospital and Summit Medical Center.
