California Emergency Physicians Medical Group Sponsors California Emergency Nurse Association Legislative Visit and Conference

(May 19, 2003, Oakland, Calif.)— California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group, located in Oakland, Calif., sponsored the recent California Emergency Nurses Association (Cal ENA) Legislative Visit and Critical Issues Conference in Sacramento, California.

Over the two-day visit, Cal ENA attendees spoke with California Senate and Assembly Health Committee members about Cal ENA, the importance of emergency services and the recent nursing shortage.The attendees spent almost an hour with Assembly Member Paul Koretz, who has commissioned a special committee to address the nursing shortage.

Wesley Fields, MD, President-Elect of Cal ACEP and CEP Board Member, spoke on behalf of CEP about the ED as a safety net and the importance of physician/nurse collaboration.For almost thirty years, CEP has been committed to encouraging an atmosphere of mutual respect and teamwork among physicians and nurses. Recently, CEP launched a special Physician-Nurse Relationship Program to emphasize a team approach to emergency care at all of its hospital sites.
