CEP Announces New Medical Director at St. Bernardine Medical Center Emergency Department.

(April 2004, Oakland, Calif.,) –California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group is proud to announce that Brian J. Bearie, MD, has accepted the position of Medical Director at St. Bernardine Medical Center Emergency Department. St. Bernardine provides care to more than 38,000 patients each year.

Dr. Bearie will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the department including staffing with high quality physicians and physician assistants, developing a strong partnership between physicians and nurses to optimize department performance, and ensuring that all patients are seen in a timely manner and leave with a positive experience. He will also interact with administration on department initiatives as well as represent the Emergency Department at hospital functions, including the Executive Committee.

Dr. Bearie is the assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is active with a variety of organizations including the Flying Samaritans, a group of physicians who travel to Mexico to provide medical and dental care, as well as the American Heart Association and the Disaster Medical Assistance Team in Orange County. Dr. Bearie is also fluent in Spanish. Prior to joining CEP, Dr. Bearie was chief resident of emergency medicine at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Bearie received a bachelor of science degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
