CEP Announces New Medical Director at Bakersfield Heart Hospital Emergency Department.

(June 7, 2004, Oakland, Calif.,)—California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group is proud to announce that Les Burson, DO, has accepted the position of Medical Director at Bakersfield Heart Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr. Burson’s primary goal is to make Bakersfield Heart Hospital Emergency Department the “ER of choice” in Bakersfield and surrounding communities. In addition to treating cardiac-related patients, the Emergency Department physicians and nurses care for a wide variety of illnesses ranging from complex cardiac and stroke evaluations to earaches and minor injuries. Overall, Dr. Burson is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Emergency Department including staffing with high quality physicians and ensuring a satisfying experience for emergency patients. Dr. Burson is committed to keeping the emergency patient wait time of 30 minutes, providing big town professional experience in a small town environment. He will also interact with administration on department initiatives as well as represent the Emergency Department at hospital functions.

His credentials include a bachelor of arts degree in Microbiology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, a master of science degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, and a Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of the Health Sciences, Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Burson completed his residency in emergency medicine at Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield, California. He is board certified in emergency medicine and has held leadership positions with the Medical Executive Committee and Continuing Medical Education Committee at Bakersfield Heart Hospital as well as the Kern County ED Task Force. Dr. Burson holds medical memberships with the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
