CEP Announces New Medical Director at Madera Community Hospital Emergency Department.

(August 2004, Oakland, Calif.,) -David A. Smith, MD, has accepted the position of Medical Director at Madera Community Hospital, Emergency Department which provides care to more than 21,500 patients each year.

Dr. Smith will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the department including staffing with high quality physicians and physician assistants, ensuring that all patients are seen in a timely manner, and leave with a positive experience. Timely patient care is a priority for Dr. Smith. “Since coming to Madera Community Hospital, the physician group has reduced the average wait to see a provider more than 50% - from 70 minutes to less than 30 minutes. Our goal for Madera Community Hospital is to be the premier provider of rapid high-quality urgent and emergency care for all residents between Fresno and Merced. With the support of the talented and proactive administration at this hospital, we will continually raise the bar for providing high quality emergency care in the community.”

He received his bachelor of science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California, San Diego as well as his medical degree. Dr. Smith was trained in trauma and emergency medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He is board certified in emergency medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Association of Physician Specialists. Dr. Smith holds certifications in advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, pediatric advanced life support, and advanced life support and obstetrics.
