Jeffrey Arnold, MD, and Jeffrey Bass, MD, Sign on as Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Natividad Medical Center

(November 2005, Emeryville, California)—California Emergency Physicians Medical Group (CEP) is proud to announce Jeffrey Arnold, MD, FACEP, has accepted the position of Medical Director and Jeffrey Bass, MD, has accepted the position of Assistant Medical Director of the Natividad Medical Center (NMC) Emergency Department (ED. Located in Salinas, California, NMC provides care to approximately 30,000 patients each year.
Drs. Arnold and Bass will have the overall responsibility of insuring quality of care in the Emergency Department. They will also be involved in implementing operational improvements and developing patient satisfaction initiatives. They will work closely with the medical staff at Natividad Medical Center and will provide support and leadership in the ED, as well as in the hospital.
“We are extremely fortunate to have two physicians with these talents join us at NMC,” says Dan Culhane, MD, Regional Director. “Drs. Arnold and Bass have the experience and commitment needed to really impact the delivery of emergency care in our community.”
According to the new leadership team, immediate goals for the ED include: implementing a patient satisfaction program, reducing wait times in the ED, optimizing staffing levels, and enhancing the operational performance of the department.
Dr. Arnold earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sonoma State University and continued his studies at UC Berkeley. He attended medical school at the Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Since 2000, he has served on the faculty of the departments of Emergency Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and Yale University School of Medicine. He has lectured, taught courses, and led workshops in emergency medicine-related topics throughout the world, received several top honors during his academic and professional careers, and authored over 50 articles in a number of peer-reviewed journals and text books. He is also the incoming Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Pre-hospital and Disaster Medicine.
Dr. Bass earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, San Diego and his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine through the University of California, Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley Program, where he received the honor of “Best Home Health Care MD.” Dr. Bass also completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. He has pursed academics and professional roles all over the country and has worked in a variety of capacities in the healthcare field, from staff physician in an oncology clinic to stadium physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
