(July 2005, Emeryville, California) --California Emergency Physicians Medical Group recognizes Dr. Phil Piccinini’s contributions to the partnership during his first year as a CEP Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellow.

Dr. Piccinini worked under the mentorship of Prentice Tom, MD, the Chief Medical Officer of CEP. Throughout his first year, Dr. Piccinini has played an integral role in a number of major projects. His contributions include everything from committee work to education and research.

Dr. Piccinini has been an active member of the CME Committee. He has also been a regularly contributing member of the Risk Advisory Committee.

Additionally, Dr. Piccinini is engaged in a number of research projects investigating the relationships between: risk and residency training, time to provider and patient satisfaction, and time to provider and risk.

Through his own ground-breaking experiences as a Fellow, Dr. Piccinini has helped immensely in developing a job description for the Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellowship. His stellar work has set the bar for future Fellows.

Of Dr. Piccinini’s role in these projects, Dr. Tom reflects, “I know he considers this year extremely successful with respect to, not only his accomplishments, but also his increased awareness and understanding of the issues that impact our practice. I am sure that Dr. Piccinini will be contributing to our continued success for many, many years.”

He adds, “The CEP Fellowship is successful because of the efforts of everyone who has helped to make the Fellowship year such a valuable learning experience,” noting that Dr. Webster in particular deserves special recognition and thanks for “securing a clinical slot for our Fellow, and for mentoring him on local site issues, as well as administration.”

Dr. Piccinini will continue his work with CEP at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. CEP would like to extend its appreciation to everyone for supporting the Fellowship and Dr. Piccinini over the last year.

CEP also welcomes Reid Brackin, MD, as its 2005-2006 Fellow. Dr. Brackin begins his tenure June 1st, and CEP already has a number of projects planned for his Fellowship year.
