Gail Matthews, MD, FACEP, Named Medical Director at DeKalb Medical Center - Hillandale

(September 2006, Emeryville, California) --California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group is proud to announce that Gail Matthews, MD, FACEP, has accepted the position of Medical Director in the Emergency Department (ED) at DeKalb Medical Center - Hillandale. Located in Lithonia, Georgia, the ED provides care to approximately 50,000 patients every year.

As Dr. Matthews shifted into the role after serving as Assistant Medical Director, she is familiar with the site and its operations. Her goals for the department include decreasing wait times and improving both patient and staff satisfaction. Says Regional Director, John Fredericks, MD, “We are fortunate to have Dr. Gail Matthews serving as ED Medical Director at DMC - Hillandale. A board certified Emergency Physician, Dr. Matthews has used her team building skills to work closely with the ED physician leadership team and ED staff members to achieve our goal of providing the highest quality patient care in a timely manner with the highest satisfaction.”

Dr. Matthews completed her residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Receiving Hospital. She has served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy where, as Department Head of the Medical Department, Dr. Matthews was responsible for the health of 1500 personnel stationed aboard the USS Shenandoal (AD-44) She is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
