Phillip Piccinini, MD, Wins Distinguished Service Award

(October 2006, Emeryville, California) CEP America has awarded emergency physician Phillip Piccinini, MD, with a 2006 Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Piccinini works in the CEP America-staffed emergency department of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital located in San Francisco, California. The leadership team of CEP America selected Dr. Piccinini out of over 900 emergency physicians eligible for this award; only five individuals were honored. The award was presented to Dr. Piccinini at CEP America’s Annual Partnership Meeting held this year in Palm Desert on October 30th.
Distinguished Service Awards are given to individuals who display clinical superiority, leadership, patient rapport, proper documentation, diplomacy and dedication. Dr. Piccinini received the award for excelling in all of these categories. As the first CEP Fellow, he has already set high standards for everyone to follow. He also developed the CEP Sepsis Guidelines which include the ability to award 24 hours of CME credit per doctor. Currently, he serves as the Saint Francis Emergency Department Medical Director.
Saint Francis Memorial is a 356-bed hospital located in the heart of San Francisco. Its emergency department receives the second most ambulance runs in the city, and the population served is directly related to its proximity to downtown hotels, Nob Hill, Chinatown and the Tenderloin. Saint Francis prides itself on caring for its diverse patient population encompassing many nations, races and socio-economic situations.
