Paul Christensen, MD, Named Medical Director at French Hospital Medical Center

(May 2006, Emeryville, California) --California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group is proud to announce that Paul Christensen, MD, has accepted the position of Medical Director in the Emergency Department (ED) at French Hospital Medical Center. Located in San Luis Obispo, the 9-bed ED provides care to approximately 15,000 patients every year.
As Medical Director, Dr. Christensen will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing operations of the Emergency Department and maintaining the relationships with the hospital, physicians and community.
Dr. Christensen’s goals for the Emergency Department include, “continuing to provide quality compassionate and timely safety net care to the members of our community. It is my desire to continue the tradition of strong leadership, advocacy and vision that Dan Culhane MD, our prior Director and now Regional Director, has established.”
Says Regional Director, Dan Culhane, MD: “Dr. Christensen has been the Associate Director at French Hospital Medical Center for several years and is exceptionally well-trained in emergency medicine. He brings extraordinary leadership skills as well as dedication and commitment to this position.”
Dr. Christensen graduated cum laude and with distinction in his biology major from Dana College in Nebraska. He went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Christensen completed a residency in emergency medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
Prior to accepting the role of Medical Director at French Hospital, Dr. Christensen worked as an attending emergency department physician at both French Hospital and Arroyo Grand Community Hospital. Currently he serves as the President of the San Luis Obispo County Medical Society, President of the San Luis Obispo County Emergency Medical Services Agency and is Vice Chief of Staff at French Hospital Medical Center. He also serves on French Hospital’s Cardiothoracic Committee and as Chairman of the CME Committee. Some of Dr. Christensen’s interests include golf, travel, photography and cooking.
