(June 2006, Emeryville, California)—California Emergency Physicians (CEP) Medical Group is proud to announce that the Santa Clara County County Board of Supervisors officially approved the selection of CEP as the provider of Physician Staffing Services for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care Center (UCC), serving 40,000 and 25,000 patients, respectively.
SCVMC received five proposals for the provision of staffing services; each proposal was reviewed and scored by an independent review panel. CEP scored significantly higher than the other four in all categories.
SCVMC is a major teaching hospital, affiliated with the Stanford University emergency medicine residency program and well-known for its clinical education. It is also a tertiary referral center and offers a number of specialty services, including spinal cord injury and brain injury units, an eight-bed regional burn center, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a chronic dialysis unit, and a high-risk pregnancy program.
Said David Hunter, MD, CEP Regional Director for California’s Central Valley and San Jose, “I would like to express our excitement at working with an outstanding institution like Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. We are deeply honored to be selected and are diligently working toward a smooth transition for the October 1 start date.”
