Two New Emergency Deparments for CEP in Central California

(January 2007, Emeryville, California) Starting the first of this year, California Emergency Physicians Medical Group (CEP) began staffing the emergency departments at Hanford Community Medical Center and Central Valley General Hospital. Both facilities are located in Hanford, which is less than an hour’s drive south of Fresno in Central California and have a combined annual emergency department patient volume of over 35,000.

The hospitals are part of Adventist Health’s Central California network. Due in part to CEP’s success in the staffing and operation of Selma Community Hospital’s Emergency Department, another Adventist Health Central California site, hospital administration awarded CEP the contract to staff the two Hanford sites as well. This brings CEP’s total number of Adventist Health emergency department contracts to five.

“CEP is looking forward to working with the hospitals to deliver high-quality emergency services in Hanford,” said Dr. Dan Culhane, CEP’s regional director for the Hanford area. “We have proven to deliver excellence in patient care and emergency department management to a wide variety of sites, and we plan to see the same results in Hanford.”

Filling the leadership positions at the new sites will be Dr. Imamu Tomlinson, medical director of Hanford Community Medical Center; and Dr. Milton Teske, medical director for Central Valley General Hospital. Both medical directors are experienced in providing not only excellent patient care, but also the leadership necessary to successfully and efficiently run an emergency department. Dr. Tomlinson, also the medical director of Selma Community Hospital’s Emergency Department, said he is very excited to be involved in the leadership at the Hanford Adventist Health sites. “It is my hope to bring to Hanford, the same energy and operational excellence that has made Selma so successful.”
