Jay Kaplan, MD, Honored with Studer Group’s Fire Starter Award

(July 2007, Emeryville, California) CEP America Partner and Director of Service and Operational Excellence Jay Kaplan was recognized with the Studer Group’s Physician Fire Starter Award at their annual conference in Orlando, Florida, on June 12, 2007. The Studer Goup is an outcome-focused healthcare consultancy that works with hundreds of healthcare organizations every year, and this year, they have honored Dr. Kaplan as a Physician Fire Starter for making real, positive changes in the medical communities he has coached. As one of Studer’s coaches, Kaplan works with hospital leadership, emergency department staff, and medical groups throughout the country, and has the proven ability to improve medical staff and patient satisfaction while concurrently enhancing clinical and operation performance.

Dr. Kaplan joined the CEP America Partnership in 2003 as the Director of Service Excellence. Nationally recognized as an expert in the clinical areas of emergency medicine and service excellence, Dr. Kaplan provides customer service and operational consultations to CEP America-contracted emergency departments. In addition, he is Physician Advisor for Press Ganey Associates, the nation’s largest patient satisfaction survey company. His former leadership positions have included Hospital Chief of Staff, Emergency Department Chairman, and even Chairman of Emergency Services for a 10 hospital health care system. Dr. Kaplan has received numerous awards including Outstanding Speaker of the Year in 2003 from the American College of Emergency Physicians, and Physician of the Year in 2001 by the New Jersey State Society of Physicians Assistants.
