Site Description

For over a century, Mercy Medical Center has served the community of Roseburg in Douglas County, Oregon, and beyond (MercyRose.org). The emergency department, including a Level III trauma center, provides comprehensive emergency medical service 24 hours a day, seven days a week to all types of patients, including those suffering traumatic injuries. The hospital has two specialty units which include both Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care. The hospital is a part of the Catholic Health Initiatives, a not-for-profit, faith-based organization with over seventy hospitals across multiple states.

Community Description

The city of Roseburg is situated in, southwestern Oregon, at the heart of the "Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua." This scenic area has been compared geographically and climatologically with Italy and southern France. Extremes of heat and cold are rare, summer humidity is low, and snowfall is uncommon on the valley floor. Northern Umpqua Valley is known for having among the most beautiful scenery and fly-fishing waters in the nation, and some of Oregon's best wineries are located in the Umpqua Valley.
