Site Description
This state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facility (AlamedaHospital.org) provides a broad range of emergency, outpatient, and wellness services as well as acute- and post-acute care. The 135-bed general acute care hospital has a staff of approximately 200 board-certified physicians and nearly 500 employees. At the Emergency Care Center, 11 board-certified emergency physicians and more than 30 registered nurses experienced in emergency, trauma, and critical care ensure that patients are in capable hands.

Community Description
Alameda spans two islands and part of a peninsula on the east side of San Francisco Bay, adjacent to Oakland. The city has a small-town feel with its Victorian homes and tree-lined neighborhoods. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 72,259.
