Site Description
Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois, is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The new state-of-the-art facility features 255 private rooms, Heart & Vascular, Birthing, and Cancer centers, plus an energy-producing geothermal lake. The emergency department is a 24-hour Level II Trauma Center that treats over 40,000 patients a year. The emergency staff includes board-certified physicians and certified trauma nurse specialists. The ED is also certified as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP).

Community Description
The hospital is in Elgin, approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago on the Fox River. The area is known for its historic architecture and landmarks from the Victorian era including examples of homes in the Queen Anne style.
